DOCTOR-SCIENTIST | EDUCATOR | HUMANITARIAN LEADER | ARTIST
Professor Dana York, DDS, MS, PhD, has built a distinguished career at the intersection of medicine, technology, education, humanitarian
service, and the arts. With more than 30 years of clinical and academic experience, she holds advanced qualifications in dentistry, biophysics and
cellular technology, laser medicine, and clinical education. She formerly served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University and has
held international honorary academic appointments.
SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP
Professor York's research centers on laser medicine and photobiomodulation, with applications in periodontology, pain management,
inflammation control, oral mucositis, tissue healing, bone regeneration, and regenerative medicine. Her interdisciplinary work also addresses
artificial intelligence, biotechnology, predictive healthcare, and the ethical use of emerging medical technologies. Her scientific contributions have
earned international recognition, including Best Research Paper Awards at Laser Florence in 2002 and 2015, and the 2026 Scientist and
International Artificial Intelligence Leader Award from the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce.
HUMANITARIAN SERVICE AND ADVOCACY
As President of EMLA INC, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, Professor York advances scientific education, ethical innovation, international
collaboration, and humanitarian service. Her initiatives have supported children, schools, orphanages, refugees, people with albinism, survivors of
trauma, cancer survivors, and victims of gender-based violence across Africa, India, Europe, and the United States. She has also served as
President of the New York Agape Foundation Lions Club.
A survivor of violence herself, Professor York has transformed personal suffering into a lifelong commitment to peace, dignity, justice, and
assistance for other victims. In France, she received recognition in connection with the Fonds de Garantie des Victimes des actes de Terrorisme
et d'autres Infractions.
ARTISTIC ACHIEVEMENTS
Professor York is also an accomplished visual artist, recognized for illuminated reverse-glass paintings that unite traditional craftsmanship, sacred
symbolism, 24-karat gold leaf, calligraphy, and light, as well as sculptures created with precious stones. Her work has been exhibited in New
York, Paris, Cannes, and Monaco. Her honors include the Silver and Vermeil Medals of the Academie Arts-Sciences-Lettres in Paris, the Oscar of
Creativity in Monaco, and international awards bearing the names of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio, and Frida Kahlo.
CIVIC AND MARITIME ENGAGEMENT
A proud sailor, Professor York is affiliated with the Sailors' Syndicate and America II, and is a member of Ocean Rescue of Southampton and the
Tree Committee of the Ladies' Village Improvement Society of East Hampton.
